At the end of the school year, I learned the emergency operations center on UC Davis’s campus has a radio room meant for amateur operators. One of the most valuable commodities at a university is space and here was an empty room whose sole purpose was for ham radio. My ham shack dreams could now come true and I started searching for equipment.
